Technical Submissions

You may submit the following proposal types:

  • Panel - 45 min. session including a moderator and multiple panelists
  • Workshop - 75 min. interactive session with attendee engagement/activities

Technical submissions solicits proposals for sessions that aim to engage and stimulate significant discussions on technical topics related to computing.

We solicit proposals for 45 minute technical sessions that aim to engage and stimulate significant discussions on a particular technical topics of interest. We seek a broad range of technical presentations, panels and workshops on topics in various areas of computing such as, but not limited to, the following: quantum computing, blockchain, computing in the era of post-Moore’s Law, computer systems architecture, artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data, Internet of things, robotics, security and privacy, virtual/augmented reality, human-centric computing, software engineering, social computing and education.

Panel and workshop submissions focused on technical topics must include:
● a compelling title;
● an abstract (up to 250 words);
● description of the people involved in the workshop or panel;
● the motivation for having each panelists or workshop co-leader;
● the target audience (e.g., undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, administrators, professionals etc.);
● any other relevant and pertinent information that provides a clear description of the proposal panel or workshop, including, but not to, a description of the format.

Technical submission proposals must conform to the Tapia Format and Submission Guidelines, and must not exceed 2 pages for all text, figures, and references in PDF format.

If you are submitting a panel:

The detailed description should include a description of the panel format (if unconventional) and the position statements for each of the panelists. The format for a typical panel session will be a 60 minute technical session that begins with short presentations by three to four leading experts in the relevant field, followed by a moderated dialogue among the panelists and the audience members. It is preferred that the specific set of panelists (and their relevant expertise) be set and named at the time of the submission. The description should also describe the format for the post-presentation moderated discussion.

If you are submitting a workshop:

Please provide a detailed description of the proposed workshop in .pdf format. The detailed description should describe the target audience, the topic(s) to be covered, and an outline of the workshop’s agenda including a timeline and the execution plan for the workshop. The execution plan will describe how the workshop will be carried out by its organizers. For example, workshops may provide guided, hands-on activities, lecture-style instruction, interactive audience participatory activities, etc.
