Shana Watters has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. She was a tenured faculty for 10 years at Augsburg College before becoming a lecturer at the University of Minnesota. She teaches a variety of computer science courses, ranging from introduction to Python to software engineering. She supervises the ACM and ACM-W students groups in the Department, as well as the Women in Computer Science group. She is active in initiatives to engage undergraduate students in research (exploreCSR) and to increase the success rate in the first computer science course. She is a member of the committee on Diversity and Inclusion of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
