Dr. Christopher L. Hovey, Research Associate in the Department of Information Science at the University of Colorado Boulder and NCWIT Research Scientist, researches the understanding and improving of computing faculty adoption of research-based teaching and reform practices. For Extension Services, Hovey has designed and analyzed surveys, conducted data analysis, and authored research publications and reports. His NSF-funded faculty adoption research uncovered viable strategies and messages that address instructors’ interests, which will improve dissemination and adoption efforts to generate greater use of student-centered teaching practices that improve learning, experiences, and retention. Hovey has also played a primary role in developing the NCWIT Graduate Systemic Change Model, as well as research-based resources specifically geared towards graduate computing programs.
