Dr. Jamie L. Huber Ward, NCWIT Research Scientist and the Associate Director of Extension Services, focuses her research on social change practices and women’s belonging in educational settings. She also led student affairs-based diversity and inclusion efforts at both liberal arts and research institutions. Huber Ward co-led a three-year NSF pilot research study to examine the efficacy of the Extension Services Learning Circles model. The study’s external evaluator reported that the fourteen participating departments increased their strategic planning, accountability, and sustainability of change efforts and identified positive organizational changes that will increase the meaningful participation of women in computing. Huber Ward also participated in an NSF-funded project to create online professional development materials for computing and information technology faculty and administrators who are beginning work on diversifying undergraduate computing programs or are trying to reignite existing initiatives.
