Francisco Enrique Vicente Castro
Biography
Francisco Castro is a postdoctoral research scientist at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His research aims to empower people through computing and the equitable design of technology and AI. His current work focuses on the design of wearable technologies that use games and game design as vehicles for STEM learning. His doctoral work at WPI explored the interactions between cognition and programming to develop theories of program design. He is a co-founder of the Papaya Project, a multi-institutional initiative aimed at critically addressing inequities in computing education and research. He is also an industry consultant for technology development and engineering.
