DescriptionIn the future, Smart Communities will become a part of our lives with the exponentially growing number of IoT devices and new emerging IoT domains, from Smart homes to fully autonomous smart communities with smart transportation, smart health, and smart cities. In this workshop, we plan to present and implement Smart Home and Smart Healthcare use cases on Cloud-Enabled Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, focusing on two major Cloud services providers and their IoT platforms, i.e., Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) IoT Platform. This workshop is based on a combinational approach of lecture-style and hands-on experiments. In today’s condition with COVID 19, this workshop can also be implemented through a virtual environment with Cloud and their IoT platforms and device SDKs. This workshop is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students who want to learn and develop hands-on expertise on IoT devices and platforms. It also applies to the faculty and other researchers who are interested in smart communities and their security and privacy aspects, including the implementation of real-world IoT use cases on Cloud and physical devices, such as Raspberry Pis.
