Are there accommodations for attendees with disabilities?

We select sites that are wheelchair accessible. We provide services to accommodate the accessibility needs of our attendees. Email tapia-conference-committee@cmd-it.org for accessibility assistance.

How many people are expected to attend Tapia 2023?

We look forward to hosting over 2000 attendees.

How many students are expected to attend?

Typically, 60% of Tapia Conference attendees are students.

Career Fair

What are the Career Fair Hours?

The Career Fair will kick off Wednesday, September 13 at 5:30 pm CT. See Tapia 2023 Schedule for Career Fair daily schedule.

Conference App

Is there a conference app?

All attendees will receive an email for access to Whova.

Conference Schedule

When does the conference start and end?

Wednesday, September 13 through Friday, September 15. See Tapia 2023 Schedule for details.

Covid 19 Policy

Will there be any COVID 19 policies for the in-person Tapia 2023 conference?

As we approach the conference, we will publish detailed protocols and guidelines as needed for the safety of all attendees. 

Exhibit Booths

What is the size of the exhibit booths?

Exhibit booths are 10’x10’.

What is included in an exhibit booth?

The exhibit booth includes a 6'x30" draped table, 2 chairs, wastebasket, draping, sign with organization name, and one 10-amp power outlet per Exhibitor.

What hours are exhibit booths available to Supporters?

Exhibit booths will be available during the career fair hours. See Tapia 2023 Schedule for details.

Exhibit Hall

When can exhibitors set up?

Wednesday, September 13, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

When do exhibitors have to break down?

Friday, September 15, 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Hotel

When will the hotel room block be available for booking?

Hotel reservations are open. Visit the Tapia 2023 Venue page for details.

Can I change the name on my reservation?

Please contact the hotel regarding reservation details and changes.

Interview Booths

What is the size of the interview booths?

Interview booths are 10’x10’.

What is included in the interview booth?

The interview booth includes a table, 2 chairs, wastebasket, draping and a sign with name.

What hours are the interview booths available?

Interview booths are available during the career fair hours. See Tapia 2023 Schedule for the career fair hours.

Logos

What are the logo specifications?

A high-resolution JPG or PNG file is required. Please use the name of your organization or department as the file name.

Meals

What meals are included with my registration?

Heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts on Wednesday evening. Lunch and afternoon snacks on Thursday and Friday. Dinner at the Awards Banquet on Friday.

Registration

When does registration open?

You can register at: Tapia 2023 Registration. Click the Non-ACM Member button on the registration home page, select Registration Type Supporter (need code) and enter your Discount/Registration Code provided by the Tapia Registration team. Send registration questions to tapia-registration@cmd-it.org.

How do I purchase bulk conference tickets?

Bulk tickets can be purchased at Tapia 2023 Registration. If your supporter package includes a discount on additional conference passes, enter the Discount Code provided by the Tapia Registration team on the payment page. Email registration questions to tapia-registration@cmd-it.org.

Do bulk tickets have to be assigned to individuals at the time of purchase?

Bulk ticket purchases do not require individuals to be identified at the time of purchase. NOTE: Individuals using a bulk ticket must register for the conference using the bulk ticket registration code provided by the Tapia Registration Team.  

Can I transfer registration from one team member to another?

Registrations can be transferred before September 13, 2023.

Do I need a registration pass for someone who is just setting up the booth?

Special accommodation can be made in advance for a person to gain access to the exhibit hall for booth set-up. Please email tapiasupporterinfo@cmd-it.org.

Speaking Opportunities

Call for Participation (CFP)

The 2023 CFP submission period was January 9 - February 20. Everyone is invited to submit during the submission period.  Decision notifications were sent in April. 

What are Tech Talks?

Tech Talks are non-marking, technical topics which may include, but are not limited to, quantum computing, cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, Internet of Things, robotics, security, privacy, virtual/augmented reality, human-centric computing, smart mobility, social computing, or other related topics.  We encourage supporters to highlight their diverse workforce, focused on CMD-IT’s target communities: African Americans/Blacks, Hispanics/ Latinx, Native Americans/Indigenous People and People with Disabilities.

Do Tech Talks include a speaker registration pass?

Purchased Tech Talks include one registration pass for the speaker.

Are Tech Talks listed on the conference schedule?

Yes. All Tech Talks will be included on the Tapia 2023 schedule. Supporters who are presenting a Tech Talk must complete the Tech Talk Details form by August 1.

Student Scholarships

When will Supporters who receive Branded Student Scholarships be notified of their scholarship recipients?

Supporters will be notified of their student scholarship recipients by August 23. Student scholarship recipients will also be notified of the Supporter who is sponsoring their Tapia 2023 scholarship. Supporters are encouraged to contact their scholarship recipients prior to the Tapia Conference.

Supporter Payments

When are supporter payments due?

Supporter payment terms are net 30 (must be received 30 days after invoice date).
